The Earth Day

On April 22, 2016 (Earth Day), 175 countries joined the Paris Climate Change Reduction Agreement. In order to reduce climate change and save our planet for future generations, major changes are needed. But as always, taking big steps with many stakeholders takes time. Let’s start with the little steps at home. The little things and the changes we can make together are important. We offer a wide variety of organic products so we can take some small steps together.

USE MORE SOLAR ENERGY
Solar energy comes directly from the sun and sunlight. This energy can turn into useful energy such as electricity and gas. It is sustainable, unlimited and much better for the environment than fossil fuel energy.

REDUCE THE USE OF PVC
PVC is not environmentally friendly. The material contains harmful substances and, after incineration, chemical waste remains.

USE PRODUCTS WITH LONGER LIFE CYCLE
Sustainability is not only in the use of environmentally friendly materials but also in lengthening the life cycle of the products themselves. The use of reusable bottles instead of PET bottles is of paramount importance for the reduction of waste.
Similarly, the use of reusable bags instead of plastic bags.

PRODUCTS FROM RECYCLED MATERIALS = LOWER WASTE
A good start to waste reduction are products made from recycled materials – paper, textiles, plastic. This does not mean they are of a lower quality.

CAUSE PRODUCTS
Protecting the environment means not only protecting the natural environment, plants and animals, but also caring for people in the poorest countries on the planet.

Here are some of the products and causes for which they work.

Dopper’s mission is to reach a world where people are aware of the environment in which we live where the amount of disposable plastic is reduced, and where everyone, close and far away, has access to safe drinking water.
The greatest amount of motivation is the huge amount of plastic waste that is currently being produced:
• Worldwide, only 1% of plastic is recycled.
• 50% of the plastic is discarded directly after use. Every day huge quantities of plastic reach our oceans – often unintentional – through streets, canals, rivers and seas.
• The five largest ocean areas where these plastic waste is collected can contain up to 36 times the plasticity of the placenta.
• Plastics enter our food chain in small particles through marine life and birds.
Annually, plastic in the oceans causes the deaths of 1 million seabirds and 100,000 marine mammals.
• And last but not least: 1 liter of water and 1 liter of oil are required to produce a plastic bottle.

And that’s OK!

ONE BRUSH, TWO SMILEY.
Choose a toothbrush that’s more than a good toothbrush. When you buy a Humble Brush, you give a smile to a child in need of oral care.
Each year, the world consumes more than 3.6 billion toothbrushes. Each year we throw about 2 billion of them – most of them end up in landfills and oceans. Most are made of plastic that does not break down. Worse, plastics are produced from fossil fuels, so we are locked into a cycle of damage to the planet – production, disposal, production, disposal.
Humble Brush Handle is made of 100% biodegradable bamboo. Bamboo is not a tree but the fastest growing plant on earth. It is naturally antibacterial, which means there is no need to use fertilizers or pesticides during cultivation.

IVL style M has been working for environmental protection for more than 10 years. If your organization is involved in the topic, we can discuss your next project together.
